Oxford Catalysts: Syngas R&D
Oxford Catalysts (Oxford, UK) produces specialty catalysts for the generation of clean fuels, from both conventional fossil fuels and renewable sources such as biomass. Their patented intellectual property and technology is the result of almost 19 years of research at the University of Oxford's prestigious Wolfson Catalysis Centre, headed by company co-founder Professor Malcolm Green, one of the world's most respected inorganic chemists. Each of their catalysts promotes greater cost effectiveness, higher productivity, better selectivity, increased resistance to contaminants and longer operational life.
In January 2008, Novus Energy® signed an exclusive Strategic Alliance Agreement with Oxford Catalyst Group, PLC to develop technology for the production of second-generation fuel-grade alcohols from organic waste. The Companies are currently working together to design and build a pilot plant unit, which will demonstrate the operation of their combined technologies. Oxford will further develop key steps in the process and will design subsequent large-scale facilities throughout North America and Europe. |

Clear Water Technologies: Biodigestion R&D
The Novus licensing agreement with Clear Water Technologies, Inc. (Minneapolis, MN) for a cellulosic biocatalyst will enable Novus Energy to build large-scale biorefineries, a twenty-fold or more scale-up from previous designs. The cellulosic conversion process for anaerobic digesters was developed by Clear Water Technologies, Inc. using Novus Energy research money and licensed exclusively to Novus for the RGL™ process. The methodology greatly increases the percentage of biomass carbon conversion and carbon to biogas. Anaerobic digestion previously could digest sugar, starch, fats and protein, but not cellulose. (More than half of waste feedstocks are cellulose). |

Western Research Institute (WRI): Pilot Plant Development
Western Research Institute (Laramie, WY) is a multi-million dollar, not-for-profit, research organization renowned for work in advanced energy systems and environmental technologies. WRI is currently completing the design and build of a 100-gallon-per-day system that demonstrates Novus Energy’s RGL system technology. The pilot plant was designed to be scalable to commercial-scale on-site facilities. The Novus Energy system will be uniquely free of sulfur contamination throughout. The rights to this unit are licensed exclusively to Novus Energy for biogas RGL systems by WRI. |
