Charles R. Wood
Charles R. Wood is President and Chief Executive Officer of Terra Investors, Inc., a private, closely held investment company. He also serves as owner and Managing Director of Woodmar Marketing, LLC, an online marketing company.
Mr. Wood is currently Chairman of the Novus Energy, LLC Board of Governors and on its Board of Advisors. As an extension to his role as Chairman, Mr. Wood very actively serves to advise and work with management in operations and strategic planning.
Previously, from 1989 to February 2000, Mr. Wood was Senior Vice President of Data Transmission Network Corporation and President of DTN Financial Services. From 1971 to 1989, Mr. Wood served as co-founder and President of AGRI-associates, Inc. and was instrumental in establishing an organization with offices located throughout North America and Europe that specializes in recruiting personnel for senior management and technical positions in agriculturally related industries. He also served on the Board of Directors of SmartServ Online, Inc. (formerly NASDAQ: SSRV) from 1999-2004.
Mr. Wood is a graduate of Iowa State University and currently serves as a Governor of Iowa State University Foundation and is a member of the foundation’s investment committee, which is responsible for managing the University’s nearly $1 billion endowment and other invested funds.
Before retiring in 2014, Norm Szydlowski led the SemGroup Corporation, a midstream oil and gas company operating in the US, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom, as it emerged from bankruptcy in 2009 as President and Chief Executive Officer. Norm also led the IPO of Rose Rock Midstream in 2011, serving as Chairman, President and CEO. He is a past Director of NGL Energy Partners.
From 2006-2009, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Colonial Pipeline Company, the largest petroleum products pipeline in the United States and operates from the US Gulf Coast to New York Harbor. Prior to Colonial Pipeline, Norm was Senior Consultant to the Iraqi Ministry of Oil. In 2004, at the request of the Pentagon and State Department, he led a team of experts from various countries in rebuilding and developing Iraq’s oil industry, achieving post-war production records despite continued sabotage.
That service followed 23 years at the Chevron Corporation, where Norm began as a field engineer in 1981. His positions included head of Marketing Operations and General Manager for Health, Environment and Safety, placing him in charge of policy and compliance for Chevron’s worldwide operations, including emergency response. In 1997, Szydlowski was appointed General Manager, Operations for the Chevron Pipe Line Company, and in 1999 he was promoted to General Manager of the Pascagoula Refinery, the largest and most complex wholly-owned refinery in the Chevron system. Following a promotion to Vice President of Refining from 2002-04, Norm was responsible for one of the largest refinery systems in the world. The 21 refineries had a crude capacity of 2.25 million barrels per day.
Norm is a past lecturer for the Master of Science in the Environmental Management Program at the University of San Francisco, a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and various community and industry organizations and is a past commissioner of the National Commission on Energy Policy. In 2009, Szydlowski chaired the Task Force on Biofuels Infrastructure for the Commission and in 2011, he co-chaired the Task Force on Ensuring Stable Natural Gas Markets for the Bipartisan Policy Center. He is a recipient of the US Department of Defense Joint Civilian Service medal.
Norm earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in Flint, Michigan and an MBA from Indiana University. He has also completed the Executive Development Program at Cornell.
